Beef Chuck Roll (The “Poor Man’s Ribeye”)
£15.50/kg — Available Whole or Butchered into Steaks
If you know, you know. The Beef Chuck Roll, cut from the shoulder just above the rib — offers that deep, rich, ribeye-style flavour, with fantastic marbling and versatility, but without the premium price tag. It’s commonly used for slow-cooked dishes and mincing, but here’s the secret: when butchered correctly, it makes an outstanding everyday steak.
It’s slightly firmer than a ribeye (we call it a steak with substance), but cooked properly, it delivers brilliant flavour and satisfaction at a fraction of the cost.
We sell it by the whole cut (around 8kg) or portioned into steaks, with all the trim and fat included — just like you’d expect from a proper butcher. £5 charge for this service.
🔪 George’s Tip: Chuck Roll steaks are excellent for freezing in portions, grilling hard and fast, or even reverse searing. I’ve been cutting these for mates looking for a weeknight steak that tastes special — and they’re always impressed.
